The Men’s ‘B’ team are also sat in 2nd place in division 4 with a real good chance to secure division 4 over the last two fixtures. The vet 40 team are 3rd in Division 1 and the vet 50 team are 4th in their division.
The Men’s team last won division 1 way back in 1961 when the club were known as ‘Lancaster Primrose’. Back in 1961 there were only four teams competing compared with 38 teams in 2024 which makes the victory even more impressive.
On top of the fantastic team results there are some great individual performances with Tom Bowman currently sitting in 2nd place for the Under 20s, Mark Holgate 2nd in the Vet 50 category and 5th in the Vet 40s and Lee Parrington currently 7th vet 40.
Currently leading the scoring for the men is David Brown on 31 points, closely followed by Mark Holgate on 33 points, Lee Parrington with 42 points, Beau Smith and Joseph Twigg 64, Gareth Lee 68, Matt Guilder 102, Sean Bolland 110, John Brassington 116, Peter Heald 182, James Dalgleish 194, Paul Riches 239, Graham Hodgson 251, Chris O’Neill 278, Paul Gillon 307, Darren Francis 466. Other competitors to run and score for the team are Chris Pyle, Tom Nicholson. Andrew Clokey, Alan Wyllie, Thomas McGrattan, Peter Lloyd and Clive Gregory.
There was also medals Galore for LMAC at the 2024 Lancashire Cross Country Championships
The senior teams had a busy XC schedule in January with the first fixture being the Lancashire Cross Country Championships at Witton Park Blackburn. The senior’s races resulted in 1 individual gold medal for Mark Holgate (Vet 50 men) and silver individual medals for Lauren Gora (Vet 40 Ladies), Mirian Mahar (vet 50 Ladies) and a team silver for Fabian Schiller, Tom Bowman and Thomas McGratton (U20 men)
First to finish for the Ladies was Lauren Gora finishing 26th overall and 2nd vet 40, Miriam Maher was next in 49th overall and 2nd Vet 50 and Sally Brassington completing the team in 52nd overall.
In the Senior Men’s Event Fabian Schiller was first home for the club in 35:13 to take 23rd position, Tom Bowman 29th overall in 35:40, Mark Holgate finished in 37:10 to take Gold in the Vet 50 category and 40th overall, 51st was David Brown in 38:01 and 72nd was Thomas McGratton in 40:47.
