Over 1600 Runners gathered on Sunday 26th February 2023 to tackle this undulating course from the centre of the Island to finish on Sliema Promenade.  The race started at 08.15 with David managing to get over the start line immediately with Carole further back in the mass start.  David started too quickly and by the 10K mark was about 500 metres ahead of Carole.

The early pace took its toll on David who was running out of steam and Carole sneaked up behind and overtook him at the 9 mile mark.  David recovered and overtook Carole just after 10 miles and managed to stay ahead, crossing the finish line about 15 seconds before Carole.

There was great debate when the results were announced with David claiming victory on the gun time 1:51:43 to Carole’s 1:52:01.  Carole claimed victory on the chip time 1:51:13 to David’s 1:51:37.

For the sake of marital harmony the event was declared a draw with the couple to return next year for an eagerly awaited re match
