April and May Road Race Reports


The ever popular Ripley Supper fun run had over 250 finishers and saw a great turnout from local athletes. First back for the club was David Brown, cruising round the four mile course to claim second place with a super effort of 22m.55. Chasing David in was Mark Gardner, running an excellent 23m.17 for fifth place and next was Graham Hodgson running well in 27m.09 to finish 21st. Louise Goddard was first female for the club, running a great time of 27m.42 finishing 27th. Louise was backed up by youngster Holly Satterly with a good run of31m.17 and Helena Lewis in 32m.24. Evelyn Elkington took first veteran 80 place with a fantastic 44m.29. Other finishers: Russell Wareing 27m.19, Emily Stapleton 34m.23, Anna Proctor 36m.46, Charlie Satterly 40m.13 and Karen Davis 45m.57.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC held the popular Lancaster Three Bridges 10k with over 270 athletes taking part. Jayne Perry was first home for the club, running an excellent time of 43m.09 to finish well up the field as first veteran 35 and fourth female overall. In next was Stuart Nevin with a good run of 49m.06 in 99th, followed one place behind by John Riach running well in 49m.07. Evelyn Elkington was back in action and claimed first veteran 80 spot with a great effort of 1h.07.40. Other finishers: David Wilkinson 49m.49, Bill Gardner 52m.51, Karen Cooper 54m.18, Gill Hamilton 54m.41, Lauren Mahon 55m.46, Diane Riach 1h.01.08 and Karen Davis 1h.10.49. The club would like to thank all the marshalls for their help and support.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners were busy last weekend, starting on Saturday morning at the Pilling 10km. David Wilkinson ran well finishing 31st overall in 48m.45, followed by wife Carole Wilkinson with a good run of 52m.43 and next Graham Jameson in 56m.23.
Saturday evening was the 3-1-5 Lancaster Health Club 5km and 10km series. Leading the club runners back in the 5k was David Brown, with an excellent run of 16m.43 earning him fifth overall. In next was James Dalgliesh in 17th with a good effort of 17m.49 and in 94th was Karen Davis in 32m.22.
There was only one club runner in the 10km race, with Chris Pyle finishing well up the field, taking fifth place with a time of 37m.40.
On Sunday three club runners took part in the Crazy Cow 10km in Preston. Steve Perry was first back with a great run of 45m.42 to finish 92nd out of over 730 runners. Christina McGuire ran well in 48m.41 to finish 137th, followed by Caroline Squires 215th in 52m.01.
There was only one brave runner from Lancaster & Morecambe at the Windermere Marathon, well known for the tough climbs throughout the 26.2 miles. Andrew Barnes ran a fantastic time of 3h.33.04 to finish 60th out of over 650 runners
