The 37th London Marathon took place last Sunday and among the record 39,487 finishers tackling the 26.2 miles were six Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners.

Katherine Cousins completed the distance in a fantastic time of 3h.07.22, finishing high up the field in 132nd woman and 2695th overall. In next was Erlend Hegstad, who ran very strongly in the second half of the race to cross the line in a super 3h.23.08 and finishing 5023rd. Lauren Gora also paced her run to perfection, running even splits to finish with a great personal best time of 3h.30.33 and 885th woman. Other finishers running well were: Natalie Marshall 3h.55.43, Emily Stapleton 4h.09.56 and Ronald Hummelink 4h.15.20.
There have also been plenty of local races in recent weeks attended by Lancaster runners, with a good turnout at the popular Caldervale 10 mile. First back was Emily Stapleton, running well on the tough course to post 1h.23.39 and finishing 76th overall. Next was Helena Lewis with a good run of 1h.27.27 for 93rd place, followed by Charlie Satterly running well in 1h.31.41 in 106th position. In the four mile fun run Joanne Moss made light work of the hills to finish second woman and ninth place running well in 28m.19. Joanne was chased in by her father Steve Perry but had a good gap at the finish with Steve running well in 28m.19 in 12th position. There were two Lancaster runners at the Blackpool half marathon, with Sam Kellett running strongly in 1h.36.16 finishing 75th and just eight places behind was Michael Roy with a good effort of 1h.36.51.
