A chilly morning provided good running conditions for the participants which started and finished at the clubhouse - before following the river and heading onto the cycle track towards Carlisle Bridge where the runners turned round and took the same route back to the finish.
The event was a great opportunity to run off the excess Christmas pudding and so attracted many families as well as runners pushing prams, wheelchair entrants and some runners entering the Christmas spirit in fancy dress – even Father Christmas made an appearance!
Taking a comfortable victory was Lee Parrington running for Barlick in a swift time of 12 minutes 34 seconds followed by Nathan Townsend (Trafford AC) in 13.16 just out pipping Gareth Booth into 3rd place with 13.18 (Horwick RMI)
In the Ladies race ex Lancaster & Morecambe Runner now running for Aldershot Farnham & District was Carolyne Baxter in 7th position overall with a very commendable time of 13.31. 2nd Lady over the line also in a very quick time was Carla Davies running for Salford in 13.47 with young Elle Pendlebury taking 3rd lady position in 15.19 running for Horwich RMI.
Host club, Lancaster & Morecambe AC had a significant number of marshals supporting the event, but also had a good number taking part too. First male home for the club was Joseph Twigg in 5th position in 13.26, with Graham Hodgson next in 24th position in 15.03 and 3rd male for the club was David Walker 35th position in 14.48.
In the Ladies race, first Lancaster & Morecambe AC runner in 36th place was Hannah Fleet (15.52) followed by Emma Whittaker in 38th position (16.04) and Louise Goddard in 52nd position (16.49)
