It was another great day at Sportshall in Preston this Sunday with our Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club athletes demonstrating their all-round abilities in indoor running, jumping and throwing.
The Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club’s team of indoor sportshall athletes has achieved great results in both of the first two Lancashire County Sportshall League competitions of the season.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC juniors headed off to Liverpool this weekend to compete in the Cross Challenge cross country, a national fixture and also the European cross country trials.

As some of the first competitors to arrive in a drizzly Barley on Saturday 7th April there was time to discuss the day ahead while parents enjoyed a hot brew.
Saturday 14th April saw a number of Junior Lancaster and Morecambe members and their families making the journey to the village of Blacko for the second race in the English Junior Fell Running Championships.
A very rainy day in Blackburn and 22 of our athletes ventured to the first Mid Lancs Track & Field competition of the season
After a snowy, blustery start to the athletics season the previous weekend many of the athletes were unsure what to expect for the first of the FRA English junior championships race held in Ambleside on Sunday 25th March.
The English National Cross Country Championships this year took place at historic Parliament Hill Fields.
At 6.30am on Saturday 4th November five Lancaster & Morecambe AC Junior Teams set out to compete in the English National cross country relay championships held at Berry Park in Mansfield.
On Saturday 21st October Lancaster & Morecambe AC athletes travelled to Graves Park, Sheffield for the northern Cross-Country Relays.
On Saturday 14th October 2017 the first Mid Lancs Cross country League fixture took place in a very muddy Cueren Valley Park, near Leyland.
An excellent day for our athletes topped off the end of the Mid Lancs T&F season 2016 with medals by the dozen.

Well done to all 19 athletes who competed on Saturday at the 3rd Mid Lancs fixture of the season in glorious sunshine rather than the rain.
Fifteen athletes went to a very wet Witton Park in Blackburn on this Bank Holiday weekend at the end of April to compete in the second Mid Lancs fixture of the season.
On Saturday 30th January 2016 a number of Lancaster & Morecambe AC Juniors took part in the Northern Cross Country Championships at Witton Park in Blackburn. Despite awful weather conditions the athletes performed well in all the age groups.

Freddie Pearson was selected to represent Lancashire in the North- West Under 11 Inter Counties Sportshall Competition at Sportcity in Freddie certainly justified his first county selection winning the speed bounce and being part of the team that won the two lap relay. He was also 4th in the 3 lap relay and 7th in the javelin.
On a weekend when many sporting events were cancelled, Cross Country went ahead and the rest of the squad were in action in the fourth round of the Mid Lancs Cross country League at Hyndburn .
Congratulations are due to all who took part, however particularly strong were the
U15 boys who took the 1st team slot. James Stanley more commonly seen excelling on the track showed he could also perform over the Country taking 2nd place. Will Howard’s consistent season continued with 6th place, Shea Hannam was 7th and Matthew Bunce 19th.
In second spot overall were the U13 girls. Erin Moffatt again took 2nd spot and was well backed up by Sasha Oldham 12th, Larissa Hannam 19th, Mia Brayshaw 23rd, Kirsty Hamilton 25th and Holly Satterly 32nd .
The U13 boys were 7th Team with Willaim Pyle continuing to show promise in 2nd place. Tim Woodman finished 24th and Alex Blessington 35th.
Also in 7th place were the U11 boys with Toby Swarbick 4th, Jacob Preston 37th and Zach Earnshaw 39th .
It was good to see a stronger U11 girls’ presence with Kirsty Maher 17th, Cleo Hanafin 19th, Amelie Earnshaw 29th, 55th Alana Smith and 56th Charlotte Haines taking 4th place overall.
Georgia Hannam finished in 2nd place in the Junior Women’s race and also formed part of the Senior women’s team who together with Hannah Bateson and Gill Hamilton took 10th position. U15 Girl Isabelle Woodman finished 8th and U17 Men Tom Bowe finished 7th with Joseph Twigg 10th .
Only two Senior Men toes the line with Chris Pyle finishing 15th Vet 40 and Graham Hodgson 42nd Vet 50.
The next time the athletes will be running in the mud is on Saturday 30th January 2016 Northern Cross Country Championships, which are taking place at Witton Park in Blackburn.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC Combined Events athletes put their pre-season training to the test, at Manchester Indoor Open Meeting, on Sunday 20th December.
On Saturday 28th November the second stage in the British Athletics Cross Challenge took place incorporating the trials for the European cross country championships.
On Sunday 8th November a small contingent of 12 Lancaster & Morecambe AC Junior Athletes travelled to Blackpool for the first round of the Lancashire Sportshall League. Despite being such a small team the athletes gave everything they had and finished a credible 5th overall out of 7 teams.
On Saturday 24th October 2015 a number of the club’s junior athletes travelled to Townley Park in Burnley for the second Mid Lancs Cross Country race.
First race was the U11 girls. Cleo Hanafin was first home for Lancaster & Morecambe AC in 13th place. With Kirsty Maher (17th); Mia Brayshaw (29th); Amelie Earnshaw (37th); Olivia Holgate (67th); Olivia Goddard (77th) the team finished in 4th position.
In the U11 boys race newcomber Toby Swarbrick finished an impressive 7th. He was joined by Freddie Pearson (8th); Jack Collett (36th); Archie Honeysett (39th); Jacob Preston (50th); Zach Earnshaw (55th) and Luke Leadbeater (64th) to finish in 3rd team spot.
All rounder Erin Moffatt crossed the line in 4th position. With Kirsty Hamilton 25th; Sadie Bentley 29th and Macy Evans 36th the team tool 3rd spot.
U13 boy Rhys Ashton continues to show outstanding form finishing 3rd in his race. Alex Blessington also ran well finishing 52nd.
The best result of the day was, however, in the U15 girls’ race where Emma Whitaker took an easy win.
U15 boys showed strength in depth with James Stanley in 7th and Will Howard in 9th. With Tyler Hanafin in 20th and Matthew Bunce in 23rd the team achieved 3rd position.
U17 Man Tom Bowe made his mark in his return to Cross Country with a 5th position in a very strong field.
The Senior Women team were placed 11th with Caroline Baxter (2nd); Helen Booth (8th) and Gill Hamilton (121st).
Six Senior men finished the race with William Onek 10th, David Brown 36th, Mark Leadbeater 46th, Chris Pyle 65th, Ronald Hummelink 146th and Mike Bray 168th.
The Junior athletes are next in action on Sunday 8th November 2015 when they are competing in the Lancashire Sportshall League Meeting at Blackpool.
LMAC athletes have had some great end of T&F season successes in the last few weeks. Rain or shine never stop our bright young talent.
Well done to all athletes who attended our home Mid Lancs fixture last Saturday (4th July). A very sunny day enjoyed by all.
On Saturday (30th May) LMACs Junior athletes travelled to Stretford for the second round of the National Youth Development League. With the club being in Division 1 of the league this was always going to be a tough fixture but the high level of competition brought out the best in the youngsters.
It was a brilliant weekend for our club in the Lancashire T&F championship with 8 athletes competing throughout the weekend in beautiful Blackpool weather.

A special mention to Kirsty Hamilton who got a PB in her 1500m with a time of 5:16.7 earning herself a Grade 3 performance and a Gold Medal. She smashed her PB by over 10 seconds.

Our Junior athletes have been very busy recently with awards ceremonies from the Cross Country season and now progressing into the Track & Field along with Fell running seasons.
Two members of Lancaster and Morecambe AC were selected to represent the Lancashire Schools’ Cross country team and four the Cumbrian Schools’ team for the English Schools Cross Country on Saturday at Witton Park, Blackburn.
Ten members of Lancaster and Morecambe Athletes Club were selected to represent Lancashire and two Cumbria in the British Athletics World Trials and Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Crofton Park in Birmingham on Saturday
