There was a long awaited return to Road Racing on Sunday 13th December when Lancaster and Morecambe AC member Carole Wilkinson completed the Virtual Longridge 7 Mile Christmas Pudding Race.
After five months of cancelled races, Lancaster & Morecambe AC’s runners were excited to return to racing action two weeks ago
As we all start to live in a ‘New Normal’ world it was interesting to see how running event may be able to take place post Lockdown.
Didcot parkrun in Oxfordshire was our warm-up for our “proper” race on Sunday 24th November. Muddy grass 3 laps round a field – I could maybe one day get myself a pair of trail shoes and join the LMAC Senior ladies XC team…..I did say maybe! Yes, I did actually enjoy the parkrun. Moving on…………
The senior men's cross country team were at Liverpool on 23rd November. The team had another fantastic turn out with 15 runners arriving at a very muddy Sefton Park.
So the seniors road running championship 2019 came to an end and we had 22 club runners turning out – one of best attended races of year (along with 22 at Garstang earlier in year).
Hydburn Cross Country saw a record number of 18 senior men representing LMAC in a strong field of 274 finishers.
Well on Sunday, 3rd of November, I experienced my first trail marathon with IGUN, ( it's grim up north).

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic Club senior men’s team decided to tackle the notoriously difficult but beautiful North Wales Half Marathon on Saturday 21 July.

Lancaster & Morecambe AC's road runners have got 2018 off to a successful start, with great performances from many runners at local events.
Last weekend saw the National Cross Country Relays at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield. As well as a small junior section taking part the club also entered a Senior Men's team which would take on the challenging 4x5km cross-country route.
My name is Linda Walker and I am 54 years of age. I began running in January 2016 when Lancaster parkrun was born.
There were a good number of Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners taking part in the the Wigan 10k, which attracted a big field of 3000 finishers. The race was the first in the club's road race championships and four of the runners took advantage of the fast course to achieve personal best times.
The road runners of Lancaster & Morecambe AC have been busy racing around the region in the past month.
The 37th London Marathon took place last Sunday and among the record 39,487 finishers tackling the 26.2 miles were six Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners.

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic Club Members Carole and David Wilkinson were on holiday in Shropshire and entered the Lilleshall Monumental Multi Terrain 10K Race.
Having been brought down to the club at 9 years old in 1988 I’ve been very lucky to see the club move from the old cinder track at the College to Salt Ayre.
