Blackpool Open Meets
Due to the hard work of each and every athlete Lancaster and Morecambe AC will remain in Division 1 next season –having finished the season in their highest ever position.
The following event has been arranged to thank this year’s athletes for all their hard work –but is open to all club athletes.
Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Athletics Club are holding two open meets during September 2008. For the first meet on Sunday 13th September we are providing a coach to the venue. The coach will leave Salt Ayre at 10am and travel to Stanley Park, Blackpool for the competition. At the conclusion of the meet we will take the athletes to a chip shop where all the athletes who have represented the club in YAL this season will be bought a bag of chips. The coach will then take us through the illuminations prior to returning to Lancaster around 10pm. Athletes competing in the fixture on 27th September should make their own travel arrangements.
The open meet has events for all age groups – that is in the new academic year U9 (Y4 and below); U11 (Y5-6); U13 (Y7-8); U15 (Y9-10); U17 (Y11-L6) and Seniors. Athletes representing L&M should wear a club vest. These can be purchased from Eddie Pike. We have recently changed our tracksuit supplier and I have a number of lightweight tracksuits (children’s and adults) available at a special introductory price of £25. These are already selling fast, however I will be in the club house this Thursday, 16th July, should you wish to purchase one. If we have sold out of the size you require I am able to take orders, however, all further orders will retail at £30. There are still a number of heavyweight tracksuits available from Eddie Pike at £40.
Athletes are responsible for submitting their own entries to BWFAC however if you are unsure about any aspect of the entry please speak to Diane Lynch or your coach. Entry forms are available here or at http://www.bwfac.co.uk/ .
Places on the coach will be available to all athletes and their families regardless of whether they competed in YAL on a first come first served basis. Athletes will need to return this form, together with a cheque for £6.50/seat made payable to “Lancaster and Morecambe AC”, to Jennie Hodgson to secure a seat on the coach.
