First off were the U11 Boys, Will Waring gave it his all but had to settle for 4th just missing out on a medal, Freddie Gittins (22),Nathan (51) and Sam Giles (66) made up the team who finished a respectable 4th place.
Next off were the U11 Girls, they were led out by Anna Nicholson who with another year in that age group finished a outstanding 8th place, she was followed home by Evie Robinson in 14th, Maddison Parrington(38), Robyn De Lacy Perkins(45) and Erin Gilan in 47th.
Our U13 boys had strength in numbers, but sadly were unable to find their form on the day, finishing 7th team overall. Leon Wilson led them home in 32nd followed by James Twigg(37), Bertie Ellison(39), Archie Honeysett(46), Ronan Maher(48), Zac Earnshaw(52) and Ben Giles (53). Fabien Schiller ran at Cumbria County Champs and finished 11th.
U13 girls were unable to field a team but this didn’t stop Niamh Barnsley Ryan who ran well from the gun to finish 45th with Megan De Lacy Perkins not far behind in 48th. Mia Brayshaw a regular member of the U13 team ran in the Cumbria County Champs and finished a fantastic 9th.
Rhys Aston led from the start of the U15 boys’ race and won with an outstanding 30 second lead, he was followed by Tobias Swarbrick in 8th both boys gaining their Lancashire Vests. Jack Collett proved he is coming back into form finishing 19th with Thomas McGrattan(30)and Fred Calvert(36) finishing off the team placing them 3rd overall.
U15 girls finished 5th overall with some strong performances, Alice Hunt(23), Kirsty Maher(35).Alice Sands running her first race of the season in a credible 37th and Amelie Earnshaw 41st.
U17 boys finished 4th overall with some amazing performances for the young team with all of them having another year in that age group, Matthew Knowles led them home in his first race back from injury, he finished 8th gaining his Lancashire Vest, Lukas Eichmeyer was 15th, William Pyle(23) and newcomer Oliver Beaumont in 28th. Phoebe Hayashi finished 3rd in the girl’s race, gaining her county vest.
Joseph Twigg finished 9th in the U20 race, Tom Humpheries running the respective race at Cumbria County Champs finishing a strong 2nd place and gaining his County Vest.
All that was left was the seniors to take to the course, Jennie Hodgson ran the women’s race and finished a fantastic 3rd place in the L55 race, with Mark Holgate taking 3rd in the V45 men’s race.
The senior men fielded a strong team led home by David Brown and Raymond Edgar finishing 26th & 27th, Beau Smith(32), Mark Holgate(49), Lee Parrington(55), Mark Leadbeatter(64), Joseph Twigg(73), Steven Worsley (78) and Kieran Rowlands (86) all having fantastic runs placing the team 6th overall in a very strong field.
Lancaster & Morecambe athletes proved what a fantastic set of athletes they are, bringing home, medals and County vests and everyone having had a great day at Witton Park.
