Ulverston was the fixture for the final Mid Lancs cross country,

and it did not disappoint. It proved to be one of the most challenging courses of the season, this however did not put off the Lancaster & Morecambe AC athletes, who once again proved that they can tackle even the most challenging of courses.

First off were the Under 11 girls, Anna Nicholson finished strong and was first home in 22nd, followed by Layla Westwell in 30th.

Oliver Ball (16) held his position throughout and led home the Under 11 boys, he was followed closely by Freddie Gittins (19), Micah Walmsley (20), Evan Roberts (21) and Jonathan Pyle in 22nd, Ronan Maher was next in (26), with brothers Nathan and Ben Giles battling it out for 36th & 37th, bringing the team home for a fantastic and well deserved 4th place.

Kirsty Maher ran a strong race to finish 14th in the Under 13 girls race, followed home by Mia Brayshaw in 28th and Niamh Barnsley-Ryan in 35th. Next up were the Under 13 boys. Thomas Mcgrattan led them home in 10th, followed by Fred Calvert (17) , Jacob Preston (18) and Jack Collett in 23rd, placing them 4th team home, at Ulverston and overall in the final results. Although absent from this event Tobias Swarbrick had already secured his 1st place overall result, after a successful season for the U13 boys.

Pheobe Hayashi took on the Under 15 girls course finishing 4th, this guaranteed her a silver Medal in the overall results, Rhys Ashton finished 8th in the boys’ race, ensuring his bronze medal in the overall results, proving what a great season, this has been for both of these athletes.

In the senior races, Joseph Twigg looked strong, and held his position throughout the race to finished 4th in the U20 mens. Lisa Preston represented us in the senior women and finished 70th, with George Parrington running a great race to finish 3rd in the Vet 70 race. Graham Hodgson finished the day off for the club with a great 10th place in the Vet 50 race.
