The Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club’s team of indoor sportshall athletes has achieved great results in both of the first two Lancashire County Sportshall League competitions of the season.

Yesterday, our squad competed in the second event of three, held at UCLAN in Preston, with all our U11 and U13 competitors achieving points for the club.  Special congratulations go to Layla Westwell who won Athlete of the match in the U13 Girls category winning both the 4-Lap and 6-Lap races.

Over both competitions, Robert Martin (U13) has shown a great all-round performance gaining second place in Long Jump and Vertical Jump, and third place in Shot Putt and the 2-Lap race.  Isla Roberts (U11) has won both the Long Jump and Triple Jump, and came third in the 2-Lap race for the U11 girls.  Lottie Mason (U11) has also achieved excellent results in multiple events, with first place in Target Throw, second place in both Triple Jump and Speed Bounce and a high placing in the very competitive 1-Lap sprint.

We welcomed Eva Hopkins-Dow (U11) and Tilly Jordan (U13) at yesterday’s competition, both of whom represented the club excellently, with Eva scoring additional points for the team in Javelin, and Tilly gaining points in all her events. Our first U9 competitor of 2019, Dylan Hay, gave a determined performance in both Speedbounce and 1-Lap sprint against the U11 boys.

Congratulations to all taking part and a big thank you to the parents who have supported the club and our athletes.
