Our next inductees into the Hall of Fame come as a two for one but the magnitude of their involvement and commitment is enough for four maybe even five people!
There was a long awaited return to Road Racing on Sunday 13th December when Lancaster and Morecambe AC member Carole Wilkinson completed the Virtual Longridge 7 Mile Christmas Pudding Race.
Sunday 4th October 2020, London Marathon day, Lancaster & Morecambe AC junior endurance athletes ran the well know London Mini Marathon whilst our marathon runners were running the gruelling 26.2 miles.
After five months of cancelled races, Lancaster & Morecambe AC’s runners were excited to return to racing action two weeks ago
As we all start to live in a ‘New Normal’ world it was interesting to see how running event may be able to take place post Lockdown.
One of the quickest female athletes to ever pull on the Lancaster & Morecambe AC vest is Louise Gardner.
This is a very simple 4 week programme for 5K distances you can do yourself while no club training sessions

We hope all our members are well and managing to keep fit. This message is being written on Sunday and it's difficult to assimilate all that's happened in less than a week.

England Athletics have issued a statement today on the Coronavirus, advising clubs to avoid all face to face activity, including training sessions and competitions until at least the end of April. (See statement below).
It was another great day at Sportshall in Preston this Sunday with our Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club athletes demonstrating their all-round abilities in indoor running, jumping and throwing.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC Junior cross country runners, headed off to Witton Park, Blackburn for the County XC Championships, we knew the course would be muddy it normally is, but we had hoped the rain would hold off, which it did for the most part with the odd very cold shower to remind us it was January, and the wind made its presence known during the races, but despite this we came away with 3 County Champions.
A pleasant, slightly cloudy morning greeted runners at the Lancaster & Morecambe Athletic Club’s annual Festive 4k Fun Run on the morning of Friday December 27th. This was a special year, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the run. Over 350 entrants turned up to run off excess Christmas pudding and turkey! – nearly as many as last year..
Didcot parkrun in Oxfordshire was our warm-up for our “proper” race on Sunday 24th November. Muddy grass 3 laps round a field – I could maybe one day get myself a pair of trail shoes and join the LMAC Senior ladies XC team…..I did say maybe! Yes, I did actually enjoy the parkrun. Moving on…………
The Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club’s team of indoor sportshall athletes has achieved great results in both of the first two Lancashire County Sportshall League competitions of the season.
The senior men's cross country team were at Liverpool on 23rd November. The team had another fantastic turn out with 15 runners arriving at a very muddy Sefton Park.
Lancaster & Morecambe AC juniors headed off to Liverpool this weekend to compete in the Cross Challenge cross country, a national fixture and also the European cross country trials.
Our next inductee into the Lancaster & Morecambe AC Hall of Fame is the fantastic speed merchant Averil McClelland.
Hyndburn was the destination for the 2nd Mid Lancs cross country fixture it proved as always to be a challenging course, made even more difficult with the very muddy and cold conditions. Lancaster & Morecambe AC juniors rose to the challenge however and put in some very strong and determined performances.
So the seniors road running championship 2019 came to an end and we had 22 club runners turning out – one of best attended races of year (along with 22 at Garstang earlier in year).
Hydburn Cross Country saw a record number of 18 senior men representing LMAC in a strong field of 274 finishers.
Well on Sunday, 3rd of November, I experienced my first trail marathon with IGUN, ( it's grim up north).
The England Athletics Hall of Fame honours those people who have made outstanding contributions to athletics and running.
I wrote an article last year on my account of completing the Lakeland 50 and thought I ought to follow this up with a brief account of my successful completion of the Lakeland 100 this year.
Several months ago Lancaster and Morecambe AC member David Wilkinson decided to take up a 60th birthday challenge by entering the St Anton Arlberg marathon in the Austrian Alps.
Father and Daughter team David Wilkinson (Lancaster and Morecambe AC), Nadine Parsons (Garstang RC) travelled to Cyprus to compete in the 21st Paphos Marathon on Sunday 17th March 2019.
On Saturday 26th January 32 of the seniors from LMAC got together for a meal at Molly’s in Lancaster which also included a “Chairpersons Award presentation” for the road runner of the year.
As the Sportshall season draws to a close for 2018-19,
Lancaster & Morecambe AC’s road runners have got off to a flying start in 2019, with 28 of the club’s runners taking part at the Garstang 10km last weekend,
Lancaster & Morecambe Athletes headed off to the Lancashire Country Cross Country Championships this weekend, it was a dry day and the ground was firm ensuring a fast course.
